The Aysgarth U11 and U13 XC teams.

This was an excellent victory for the U11 cross country team who not only won the Sedbergh cross country but also set a new record in the process. The first 5 Aysgarth runners were all in the top 7 and the whole team occupied the top 20 places against strong opposition.

Barney Gawthorpe the captain was superb in winning the race but it was the quartet of Scott, Hornyold Strickland, Couttie and Ogden who helped each other round and occupied 4th,5th,6th and 7th which set up this victory.

Caspar Stone finished 11th and Rufus Pearce 20th which was a superb run considering he is still an U10. This gave the team a record total of 16 points.

Special mention must go to Henry Scott who ran over half the race minus his trainers lost in the water jump and who still finished 4th. He later said, 'I couldn't sprint after I lost my shoes as it was too slippy!'. Amazing commitment and it epitomises the guts and character that we are seeing from our Aysgarth sportsman across all of our sports.
